What is Pipeline Infrastructure?

Pipeline infrastructure refers to the complete network of pipes, pump stations, valves, fittings, and ancillary structures that transport fluids — typically water, sewage, oil, gas, or industrial process fluids — from a point of origin to a delivery destination. For water supply and irrigation, pipeline infrastructure is the backbone of modern civilization's ability to deliver safe water to urban and rural populations.

Components of Water Supply Pipeline Infrastructure

• Transmission mains: Large-diameter pipelines carrying bulk water long distances
• Distribution mains: Medium-diameter pipelines distributing water within zones
• Service connections: Small-diameter pipes delivering water to individual properties
